About Our Auction
Help support Project Graduation for Colchester High School Seniors!
This year marks the 33rd year for Project Graduation and we are super excited to keep the tradition alive in Colchester. The event continues to grow and attracts more than 80% participation from the senior class.
A group of parent volunteers have officially geared up for our numerous fundraising efforts to support Project Graduation Class of 2019, including this auction.
The graduation celebration will take place on June 15, 2018. Every year we join numerous communities across America in providing an all-night, chemical free party for graduating seniors as a safer alternative to the typical, traditional drinking parties. This year, students will start the celebration at Colchester High School and head to Jay Peak for a fun night of memory making and togetherness.
Unfortunately, many “traditional” celebrations end in senseless tragedy. Project Graduation provides our young adults a safe, supervised, alcohol free, and exciting environment that has proven to be a better way for graduates to celebrate. Project Graduation sends a powerful message to our teenagers, showing them that their community cares for them. Learn more about us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/chspg19/
About Colchester High School Project Graduation 2019
Celebration Preparations Underway for Colchester High School Seniors
For well over a decade, Colchester High School parents have raised funds with a creative frenzy for an end of year bash for their seniors. This send off for CHS graduating seniors celebrates the end of high school and for some the end of a run of over 13 years with fellow classmates. The Project Graduation parties, common in many communities, came about to provide students the opportunity to celebrate with activities in a substance-free environment. It’s not cheap though and the Project Grad committee is asking the community for help.
The party this year will be at Jay Peak Water Park and festivities commence early evening the day of graduation. Tiera Porter, chair of the committee, says that a good start to raising the $35, 000 has been made. “We’ve been fundraising since September starting with the Harvest dance and we’ll end sometime in March.” Other fundraising opportunities will include coin drops, a Calcutta, silent auction, and coffee sales, On-going opportunities exist though Amazon Smiles (enter Colchester HIgh School Project Graduation) and a bottle drop at Cap N Cork.
.
Co-chair, Holli Brigante emphasizes, “the success of this effort requires involvement of as many of the parents as possible to help raise funds.” The committee understands that not everyone has time to participate in meetings, but by being on the email distribution list and also checking in on the CHS Project Graduation FaceBook site, families can learn how best they can contribute.
Secretary Eileen Moore is also looking for contributions from local businesses and families. Eileen acknowledged, “Colchester benefits from having so many businesses that are community minded and provide donations.” The committee has sent out donation request letters which will be following up with personal contacts. Any donations by check or for the silent auction can be arranged by contacting Tiera Porter at tiera_porter@uvm.edu
