About Our Auction
Guatemala Stove Project (GSP) is a volunteer driven organization dedicated to helping indigenous Maya people in the western highlands of Guatemala. This November, GSP is hosting a joint Perth-Ottawa online silent auction which replaces our usual live fundraising activities. Participants will find this format safe and convenient during current COVID-19 restrictions. There are many items which are sure to tempt! Take your time and scroll through the gallery of gift certificates, Guatemalan crafts, paintings, jewellery and more. Payment and pickup details are provided with each item.
Monies raised by this auction will be used to fund the construction of chimney vented cookstoves in Guatemala. This has an immediate health benefit for the families, cuts greenhouse gas emissions and helps to preserve forests.
TO MAKE A DONATION
As well as bidding, you can donate directly to one or more of our programs. A cookstove costs $300, an educational bursary for one girl is $650 and a typical micro-loan is $150. Tax receipts will be issued for amounts over $20.
To donate via e-transfer: i) in the recipient box write Guatemala Stove Project or GSP, ii) in the email box write info@guatemalastoveproject.org, iii) in the message box state "Auction donation" and provide your name, mailing address with postal code and specify whether for stoves, micro-loans or bursaries. No security question is necessary.
To donate via cheque: i) make your cheque payable to Guatemala Stove Project, ii) in the note state "Auction donation" and the desired program(s) iii) mail to Guatemala Stove Project, PO Box 20057, Perth, ON, K7H 3M6
About Guatemala Stove Project
Guatemala Stove Project (GSP) is a volunteer driven organization dedicated to helping indigenous Maya people in the western highlands of Guatemala. Founded in 1999 in Perth, Ontario by local carpenter Tom Clarke, GSP is a registered Canadian charity #871977617RR0001.
To date, GSP has funded the construction of over 7300 chimney vented cookstoves and 25 school cookstoves which have vastly improved the quality of life for these families and reduced carbon emissions.
GSP supports girls to attend middle and high school with the aid of educational bursaries. Our micro-loan fund is used to finance many small ventures which would otherwise be impossible.
Additionally, GSP responds to emergency needs when disasters occur. For example, in 2020 the COVID pandemic hit Guatemalans hard and individuals faced unemployment and food shortages. GSP sent funds for basic food supplies which assisted over 450 families..
