About St Francis of Assisi Parish, Spokane
St. Francis of Assisi parish is committed to spreading the love of God, St. Francis style! Along with daily Mass and the sacraments, there are Bible studies, prayer meetings, Eucharistic Adoration, children's educational programs, faith and community building events, a small food pantry, and peace and justice programs. St. Francis is unique in that it is the last remaining Franciscan parish in the Pacific Northwest.
Besides being the pastor, our beloved Fr. Michael Blackburn, ofm, is the chaplain to the nearby Poor Clare nuns as well as the profferer of jokes to which no one should be subjected. ;-) But, seriously, Fr. Mike motivates with inspiring homilies, and comforts with a listening ear and consoling words. He is an example of humility, strong faith, and simple living that would make Saint Francis proud. He emboldens us to follow in Jesus' footsteps, to mature in our faith, and to aspire to love God and all creation.
