About Our Auction
Proceeds will be donated to the Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This organization helps fund cutting edge research, drive change through advocacy, facilitate professional education and provide programs and services that empower people with MS and their families to move their lives forward.
The funds are also used to facilitate a local support group. It is our goal to provide a place for individuals affected by Multiple Sclerosis, both patients and caregivers, to come and get emotional comfort, education on the latest treatments and research breakthroughs, and coping strategies.
About Huron MS Walk/Run
We are excited for the 8th Annual Huron MS Walk/Run at our new venue the Huron Country Club on June 22nd, 2024. We are very dedicated to our cause and are thankful for the support of so many individuals and businesses. Huron and the surrounding communities helped us raise over $200,000 the past 7 years. Our efforts earned the “Top Do-It-Yourself Fundraiser in South Dakota” award for five years in a row at the Upper Midwest Chapter’s Annual Sylvies.
We look forward to this year’s event, at our new location at the Huron Country Club. We hope the success and enjoyment from our past years continue to grow, as this event starts to become a summer tradition where people come together for the day to offer their support. We anticipate over 150 people will take part in the morning’s walk/run event. You have the choice to participate in a Fun Walk or a 5K. If walking or running isn’t your cup of tea, we invite you to come check out all the awesome items on the silent auction, participate in the Chipping Contest, enjoy Bellinis from JMusil Winery, bouncy house, or the Huron Country Club pool.
Our ultimate goal is a world free of Multiple Sclerosis. Over 17,000 people in the Dakotas, Minnesota, & Iowa are living with this disease that does not yet have a cure. Multiple Sclerosis is the result of damage to myelin sheath or protective coating that surrounds the nerve fibers in your brain and spinal cord. MS patients endure a wide array of symptoms to include but are certainly not limited to: chronic pain, fatigue, and impaired coordination. The symptoms, severity, duration, and frequency vary from person to person.
Funds raised will go to the Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and be dedicated to research for a cure. Additionally, we will directly support those in the Huron Community suffering with MS. We all know someone affected by this disease. We hope to be able to provide resources to the newly diagnosed, information on medications and treatment options, and most importantly comfort to those fighting the disease and their families. #wearestrongertogether
