Laundry Day 3
Hello!! Welcome to Laundry Day 3!
Laundry Day 3 is the annual fundraiser and community art exhibition to support New System Exhibitions in Portland, Maine. This year we are so fortunate to feature work by 80+ artists, both local and from away.
Not only is LD3 a fundraiser for New System's 2022 exhibitions and programming, it is also a unique opportunity for artists to show alongside a community of peers.
Participating artists get to choose the amount of their sale they will donate to NSE on a sliding scale from 50 - 100%. Plus, we will be donating 10% of our proceeds to Portland's Preble Street Resource Center in an effort to help our houseless community here in Portland.
This year we will have an in person exhibition of the artwork alongside an online-only auction. See hours below.
Exhibition reception: Friday, December 3 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Open hours: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 4th and Sunday, December 5th
So step on up - right on up - and support our beautiful arts community here in Portland, Maine.
Much love and happy bidding,
Alice, Cody, Hector, Henry, Isaac, Nevan and Samantha
About New System Exhibitions
New System Exhibitions (NSE) is an artist-run exhibition space with a non-profit mission of providing exhibition, curatorial, and performance opportunities for local and regional emerging artists. Founded in 2018, NSE is focused on facilitating direct engagement with the community and increased creative autonomy for artists. This autonomy manifests in shows that are primarily artist-directed and curated, often as solo or two-person exhibitions at a stage in the artist’s career when solo shows are rarely offered.
NSE relies on grants, donations, and fundraisers to run the exhibition program, which takes the financial pressure away from the seven co-directors, young artists themselves. At NSE, we give 100 percent of every sale from our solo-exhibitions directly to the artist, because we believe in creating a space that shows work from all types of artistic practices, regardless of salability.
NSE engages the community through exhibitions, artist talks, group critiques, video and media content. Beyond specific curatorial goals, our aim is to provide a semi traditional art space that is inclusive and innovative.
