About Our Auction

This auction begins online from September 6th to September 16th at 4:30pm. The auction will conclude live at our 30th Anniversary Garden Party on September 16, 6pm-9pm. Proxy bidding is allowed, so you don't have to attend the party in order to bid on an item!

While the historic house itself is well over 160 years old, the museum opened to the public in 1992. You are invited to join the friends, board members, and museum staff of Mabry-Hazen House in celebrating our three decades of service!

We are raising funds to support a restoration of the historic house interior, including new wallpaper, paint, and plaster repairs. Proceeds from the event and silent auction will go towards this restoration.

From Mabry's Hill to Market Square, Mabry-Hazen House weaves through the history of Knoxville and East Tennessee. Our small museum preserves a big part of the past, but we need your help to extend our history well into the future.

We believe Mabry-Hazen House and Bethel Cemetery preserve irreplaceable and vital evidence of Knoxville history, saving it for future generations.

We believe that history provides a sense of place and builds community through the understanding of the shared history that connects us.

We believe that knowledge of history is essential to understanding the issues we face today.

And most importantly.... We believe this place matters!

About Mabry-Hazen House

From Mabry's Hill to Market Square, Mabry-Hazen House weaves through the history of Knoxville and East Tennessee. Our small museum sees over five thousand visitors a year in addition to hundreds of children on school field trips, and we need your help to extend our history well into the future.

Built in 1858, three generations of the same family resided in the Italianate-style home overlooking downtown Knoxville, the Tennessee River, and the Great Smoky Mountains. Furnished and decorated in the style of several eras, Mabry-Hazen House gives a rare and personal view into 130 years of Knoxville history. The museum showcases one of the largest original family collections in America with over 2,500 original artifacts on display.

Recently, Bob Vila’s website named Mabry-Hazen House one of the “10 Houses on the National Register of Historic Places Worth Seeing,” a list with many other prestigious historic houses including the Lincoln Home in Springfield, IL, Winchester Mystery Mansion in San Jose, CA, and Mark Twain’s Home in Hartford CT.
