About Our Auction

S.T.A.R. began in 2003 when Renee Gamberoni and Max Goode recognized a need for adaptive programs and recreation for individuals with special needs. Now, alongside their peers, individuals on Nantucket with diverse needs have access to quality sports and recreation. Our therapists, teachers, special educators and dedicated volunteers help individuals with special needs participate in a wide variety of sports, activities and recreational experiences in a supportive environment. All funds raised from this year's auction will directly support program costs including equipment, staffing, materials, location rental fees (when applicable), safety training, and more.

About Nantucket S.T.A.R.

We are a local nonprofit organization, dedicated to providing activities and therapies to children with special needs. We believe that every child, regardless of of their physical, mental or emotional challenges should have access to quality sports and recreation. Therapists, special educators and dedicated staff and volunteers are passionate about assisting children with special needs participate to their fullest potential.

Our mission is to provide specialized, therapeutic, accessible recreation, and adaptive sports to children with a wide range of challenges and disabilities.

Our goal is to leave no child left behind due to the degree of challenges, be it physical, mental, emotional, or neurological.

Our history began in 2003 when the program was founded by Renee Gamberoni and Max Goode. Seeing a great need in our community for recreation and sports for children with special needs, the Nantucket S.T.A.R. Program was formed. Now, alongside their peers, children on Nantucket with special needs have access to sports, after-school activities, play groups and more!
