About Our Auction
The K-State Travel and Dining Auction is the largest student fundraiser in the College of Human Ecology that is planned and executed by students. This event became a class in 2009 to teach students interested in event planning how to organize and execute a major fundraising event. These Hospitality Management Program students apply for their auction positions and are chosen to be part of the class with student coordinators leading the entire event. Committees are developed to manage donations, marketing, operations and administrative duties. This year the HM 662 - Capstone Class for Restaurant Management will be planning and executing the food.
Proceeds from the Auction are used to fund student scholarships and support all Hospitality Management (HM) student organizations including:
Club Managers Association of America (CMAA)
Hospitality Management Graduate Club
Hospitality Management Society (HMS)
Professional Event Management Society (PEMS)
Each club allocates a portion of their funds for student financial support for traveling to regional and national conferences along with other student activities.
