About Our Auction
This online silent auction is a fundraiser for Good Beginnings of Central VT's new event- It Takes a Village. It Takes a Village brings together the Central Vermont community to raise awareness about perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, build community, and grow the village of support for parents and caregivers.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 12-4pm on the State House Lawn in Montpelier.
Parents will be able to connect with each other, build their village, and access community resources on mental health, parenting, and self care. This is a free, family-friendly event that will also include developmentally-appropriate fun and games for children from birth and beyond.
Our core partners at the local Perinatal Mental Health Coalition – including the WIC nurses at the Barre District Office, the Family Center of Washington County, the WCMHS Doula Project, the CVMC Women’s and Children’s Unit, Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice’s MCH home visiting team, and Capstone’s Head Start program – are also involved in planning the event.
We will wrap our arms around perinatal families in our community while raising our voices about how perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth and often go undiagnosed.
Procceeds from this silent auction help us build a stronger Postpartum Angels program and additional programs. Thank you for your support!!
About Good Beginnings of Central VT
Our Mission
To bring community to families and their babies.
Our Vision
We envision a society where the transition to parenthood is supported and communities come together to ensure all infants thrive.
Our Story
Good Beginnings was founded in 1991 by three mothers in Northfield, VT who recognized a growing need for support for new parents due to the combined effects of shorter postpartum hospital stays and a diminished role for extended family and other traditional sources of support.
Since that time, our volunteer Postpartum Angels have provided families throughout Washington County, as well as in neighboring regions of Orange, Lamoille, and Chittenden Counties, with respite, companionship, and connections to community, as well as help accessing resources for breastfeeding and parenting support, postpartum depression, and basic needs. Last year, we served a total of 107 families from 28 towns through our Postpartum Angel Family Support program. All Good Beginnings services are free and open to all families with infants.
