Society 1858 Art Auction

Proceeds from the Give Back to the Gibbes Auction organized by the Gibbes' Society 1858 will provide critical operating support to the Gibbes Museum of Art which, over the past few months, has experienced reduced attendance, temporary closures and cancellation of fundraising events such as its annual Gibbes on the Street party, weddings, and other functions that generate important revenues. Supporting the Gibbes through this virtual art auction will help to provide funding for exhibitions and programming that are so vital to our mission.

In 2014, Society 1858, an auxiliary group of the Gibbes Museum of Art, established the 1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art, which awards $10,000 to an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of art in the South.
