About WDMH Foundation
Neighbours Helping Neighbours
You know that neighbour who brings you food when they hear you’re not feeling well? At the WDMH Foundation, we are so grateful to be surrounded by people just like that – every day!
We are the charity of choice for all of our neighbours who care deeply about local health care.
Through their monthly, annual, planned, in-kind, and future gifts, our amazing donors support health care at both the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) and Dundas Manor, our local long-term care home.
Many people are surprised that the provincial government does not fund everything that our hospital needs to provide compassionate, excellent health care - including the purchase of medical equipment. That’s where the WDMH Foundation comes in. It was incorporated 1993 as reduced government funding resulted in the need for additional, continuous community support. The Foundation raises funds for capital equipment and capital projects. Because of our many donors, we have been able to disburse more than $26 Million to WDMH over the past two decades.
In 2019, the WDMH Foundation became the main fundraising partner of Dundas Manor, which is right next door to the hospital. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Dundas Manor and our community to rebuild this special home to care for current and future residents. Built in the 70s, the home’s design no longer meets the needs of its residents and the building itself is deteriorating. Further renovations are simply not practical or cost effective.
We work hard to ensure that our donors trust us, feel our gratitude, are well-informed, and enjoy positive giving experiences. In all things, our donors are #1.
