2022 Stonington Lobster Trap Tree - Buoy Auction
151 of the 420 hand painted/crafted buoys are available for sale! Own a piece of history and support this special project when you purchase this one-of-a-kind custom piece of art. Each buoy comes with a certificate of authenticity. Please note that the photographs on this site were taken prior to the buoys being displayed for a 7-week period on the tree. Due to wind it is possible that some scratches or nicks could occur. When the tree comes down in mid-January, we will inspect the buoys and any that have major damage will have their photos updated on this website. Minor damage should be expected and does not negate auction bids. If you have concerns about bidding on a buoy (that could potentially incur weather damage or scratching from the traps) please refrain from bidding online. You should utilize the in-person option on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 10AM -2PM at St. Mary's Church in Stonington Borough - Free Admission.
READ SECTION BELOW ABOUT THE 3 STAGES OF THIS BUOY AUCTION! THIS ONLINE AUCTION IS JUST PHASE 1 AND BIDS HERE ARE NOT CONCLUSIVE. PHASE 2 CONTINUATION IS A PUBLIC VIEWING AND ADDITIONAL ONLINE BIDDING ON FEBRUARY 4, 2023 AT ST. MARY'S CHURCH (FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC).
PHASE 3 IS A TICKETED PRIVATE EVENT AT $25 AND THE FINAL OPPORTUNITY TO BID IN PERSON VIA BID SHEET ONLY. AFTER PHASE 3 BIDDING HAS BEEN CLOSED OUT, WE WILL VERIFY THE FINAL WINNING BIDS.
These items make a great gift or beautiful decoration for your home or office. Proceeds from this auction are reinvested back into the project to create a larger tree with brand new art each year.

Live Event Information
Thank you for bidding on our 2nd Annual Stonington Lobster Trap Tree "Artist Buoys"!
This auction takes place in two stages. The online auction will begin on Wednesday, December 7th and continue until Saturday, February 4th at 3PM. Stage 2 will begin at 5:30PM. We will then transfer the highest online bidder to be the leading entry at our in-person bidding session. It is possible that additional bids could be collected during this session and could outbid the online leading bidder. (70% of last year's winning bids were from the online auction and did not get outbid at the in-person LIVE event). Once the live portion concludes, we will update the 32 Auction website and the winners will be automatically notified by 7:30PM (at the latest). You will then be able to pay for your buoy and pick-up at St. Mary's Church until 8:15PM if you are in the area. If not, you can pick up your buoy at the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce starting on Monday, February 6th.
If you'd like to attend the LIVE Auction, to ensure that you will be physically present right up until the last moment bids are accepted, please follow the link below to purchase your tickets: https://checkout.square.site/buy/XKC275UMDJXEM4EDVVNKOPM6
