About Danny Barker Banjo & Guitar Festival
The Danny Barker Festival Inc. is a non-profit organization whose work focuses on preserving and highlighting the legacy of the late Danny Barker, a native New Orleanian, professional musician, researcher, oral historian and writer, and one of the most influential music educators of the 20th century.
The Danny Barker Festival provides year-round after-school music education opportunities for students in both traditional jazz and all instruments, master-classes by professional musicians, seminars for music educators and concerts for the every member of the community, with the purpose of connecting musicians, students and audiences with the rich musical compositions of Danny Baker. The organization’s work culminates in a spring festival featuring educational seminars and performances highlighting musicians who were directly taught and influenced by Danny Barker.
