The ASLA DANZ 2024 Festival Fundraiser

What an exciting time it is here at DANZ HQ! We are putting together our very first children's book festival. Though we can't give away too many details at this stage, we can tell you that we're working closely with libraries to create a two-day festival to take place during the 2025 Children's Book Week and be COMPLETELY FREE to all attendees! Yes, FREE! That way we can bring some of the incredible marginalised and minority book creators celebrated in the 2024 awards to even the most disadvantaged schools and children. It's going to be amazing!

All the money raised in our Festival Fundraiser will go toward this inaugural festival to make it as magical as possible. The items on offer have all been donated by some of the most respected people working in children's publishing and include manuscript and portfolio assessments for upcoming creators, wonderful book and gift packs for teachers and librarians, and even online meetings! And all just in time for the holiday season.

The ASLA DANZ Children’s Book Award, launched in 2023, stands for The Diversity in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand Children's Book Award and has been created to recognise, award, and celebrate diverse children’s fiction. This means a children’s book published in Australia or New Zealand which pushes boundaries, challenges stereotypes, and celebrates diverse and marginalised people and communities.
