About Our Auction

Help Andrew Jantzen (he/they) receive life-changing surgery!

Get a head start on your holiday season list (or just treat yourself) with one of the 80 + listings in this fundraiser auction, and feel good about supporting local and an important cause!

Featuring incredible donations from Canadian (and primarily Maritime) artisans, performers, small businesses, non-profits, and professionals.

Listings cover everything from a private island stay, to handmade crafts, to a drag ceilidh! Others include customized cards, embroidery hoops, and jewelry; massages and acupuncture; tattoo sessions and tarot readings; private photography or video sessions for you and/or your dog; event tickets for drag, burlesque, and ballet; gift certificates for cafes, hair cuts, and comics in Kjipuktuk (Halifax); signed children’s and adult books; handmade paintings, prints, stained glass, and other home décor; handmade mittens and seasonal ornaments; and services like personal assistance, coaching, gardening. You might even find a magic show mixed in!

Andrew Jantzen is a queer, trans, disabled, low-income community member living in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Nova Scotia. He has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and Tethered Cord Syndrome and is in urgent need of surgery that is not covered in Canada by Spring 2024.

Andrew is a longtime community advocate and has dedicated their life to helping others. We hope we can come together to give back and help them access this life-changing surgery!

Auction details

Auction opens on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 7:00 AM Atlantic Time.
Auction closes on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:00 PM Atlantic Time.

You can vote by exact or proxy bids.
Exact bids: Choose exactly how much you would like to bid.
Proxy bids: Set a maximum amount you're willing to spend on a listing. The website will automatically bid for you up to this maximum amount as others bid on the same listing.

Extended bidding:
The Extended Bidding feature automatically extends the auction closing time for a specific item by 3 minutes if this item receives a bid in the final 3 minutes of the auction (or between 9:57 PM and 10:00 PM Atlantic Time). If you are outbid in the last three minutes of the auction you will have time to enter a new bid for three more minutes.

Shipping

Items that include covered shipping within Canada are indicated in their descriptions.

For items that do not include shipping, winning bidders are encouraged to contact the auction at Fundraise4Andrew@Gmail.com to arrange local pickup in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). If winners are unable to arrange local pickup, shipping costs may be covered by the winning bidder. Each item includes options of shipping cost estimates, though actual costs may be higher.

About Fundraising For Andrew

Community is rallying to help raise $80,000 for Andrew Jantzen (he/they), a queer, trans, disabled, low-income community member in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Nova Scotia. Andrew has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and is in need of urgent life-sustaining surgery by spring of 2024 for Tethered Cord that isn't covered for him in Canada.
