2024 Player Worn Indigenous Round Jerseys*

At the Lightning, we deeply value the importance of acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land and paying tribute to their history. To honour this, we are hosting our first Indigenous Round during NAIDOC Week 2024. We collaborated with a talented Indigenous artist to create a piece that reflects the essence of where we play and who we are.

The result exceeded our expectations—a stunning artwork titled "Ice Hockey on Country," which we've proudly incorporated into our jersey design. The First Nation's symbols used in this jersey design, are as handed down to the artist Sandra Angus or "Squister" from her grandmother, mother, and aunties and uncles.

A portion of our auction proceeds will be donated to The Aboriginal Literacy Foundation. The Aboriginal Literacy Foundation believes that positive and practical change to closing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people starts with literacy and numeracy. Their vision is for a future where all Indigenous children can pursue quality education, reach their full potential and contribute to their community and the country.

Based in Boondall, The Lightning are a proud Queensland Ice Hockey Team supported by a passionate squad of volunteers. They are committed to continuous growth both on and off the ice. After an impressive exhibition season in 2022, the Brisbane Lightning became a fully licensed team in 2023 and successfully progressed to the AIHL finals in both 2023 & 2024.
