BLRR 2020 Spring Auction
Many of the dogs that come into rescue require extensive medical care. Brookline's vet expenses from January through May of this year exceeded $40,800.00. One of the dogs helped was Charlie, pictured left. Here is Charlie's story in his own words.
My name is Charlie. I joined the Brookline family the night before Thanksgiving. I had been at a shelter for only a few days when the shelter decided they would be putting me to sleep on Thanksgiving (how sad is that?) if I wasn’t pulled by a rescue group. But I was one of the lucky ones: the Brookline angels stepped up and rescued me.
When I came to Brookline I had a mass on my gum that needed immediate attention. It was biopsied and the result showed that more complicated surgery would be needed to stop the spread of the tumor. I then came under the care of a doggie dental specialist and she took off the whole mass, along with two teeth and some of my jaw bone. She did a great job. The margins were clean and I am cured! And I have gone on with my life in foster care, as if nothing ever happened.
I am so-o-o grateful to Brookline for saving my life and saving my mouth. I know it’s never easy or cheap to step up for a dog like me. Brookline didn’t hesitate. I’m here today -- and healthy -- thanks to my Brookline angels.
We are thrilled to be able to step in to help dogs like Charlie, but our ability to provide this care is dependent on the donations we receive and the money brought in by our fundraisers. Our adoption fees do not even come close to covering the expenses we incur in helping the dogs in our care live the lives they deserve.
100% of the proceeds from our Spring Auction will be put towards our Vet bills. Our hope is that the funds we raise will allow us to continue to provide the quality care to many dogs. So please, BID EARLY, BID OFTEN, BID HIGH!
Once again, we would like to thank A. H. Davis & Son Roofing & Siding (West Chester, PA) for their generous donation to cover the auction's shipping expenses!
