Christmas Mountain has been a tradition in Salida since 1989. It started with a few floodlights creating the shape of a tree on Tenderfoot Mountain and has turned into 10,000 LED lights outlining a 750-ft Christmas tree with ornaments and strands of garland that can be seen by airplanes flying above. The maintenance of this beloved fixture requires hundreds of hours of labor all of which is 100% volunteer.
