Corning Rotary Community Programs Support

The silent auction will generate funds for the Corning Rotary Club to provide grants to local service organizations to enhance and expand their services to the community and to emphasize support for literacy, community health and safety, education and child development. Currently these include elementary school reading programs and free books to students, a Regional Spelling Bee for the national Spelling Bee, community gardens, fire safety in school and homes, and many more. International projects are supported in numerous countries around the world.

The Corning Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International. The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and , in particular, to encourage and foster (1) the development of acquaintance as an opportunity of service; (2) high ethical standards in business, professions and personal interactions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society; (3) the application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, occupational and community life, that is, "Service Above Self"; and, (4) the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through its world fellowship. The Rotary Club provides direct serve to the community with volunteer activities activities for all community agencies that need help. Additionally the Rotary Club bestows grants to community agencies to help accomplish their mission and improve the quality of life for the entire community.
