About Our Auction
As most of you know by now, Kerala has experienced the worst flooding since 1924. These floods have caused countless landslides, and the death toll continues to climb. There is extensive crop and property destruction as well. Amma donated Rs.10 crores [$1,418,000 U.S.] to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.
Proceeds from our silent online auction will benefit the victims of these floods. To find updates on Embracing the World's response to the Kerala flood relief efforts, visit: https://amma.org/news/kerala-flood-relief-efforts.
Online auctions in the past have contributed to many of Amma's humanitarian projects across the globe, including: Amrita Kuteeram (Amma's housing project), disaster relief efforts, and the farmer relief project.
The annual auctions have built houses in India for the poor, contributed to 2013 Typhoon Haiyan relief funds in the Philippines, 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami relief funds, 2010 Haiti earthquake disaster relief efforts, 2005 Hurricane Katrina relief funds in the US, and supported both phases of the Tsunami relief efforts.
Mata Amritanandamayi Math (MAM) announced two massive charitable projects: a 50 crores Indian rupees (8 million USD) relief-and-rehabilitation project in the flood-ravaged state of Uttarakhand (North India) and Amrita Swasraya Gramam, a program to adopt 101 villages throughout India, insuring a proper home for each villager. The program includes social, educational, medical and community services for the adopted villages, so that they may become self reliant and thrive as a community.

About Embracing the World
Embracing the World (ETW) is a global network of regional humanitarian organizations, inspired by the India-based humanitarian initiatives of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Embracing the World exists to alleviate the burden of the world’s poor through helping to meet each of their five basic needs — food, shelter, healthcare, education, and livelihood — wherever and whenever possible. We are especially focused on helping to meet these needs in the aftermath of major disasters.
Augmenting these efforts, we work in the fields of environmental conservation and sustainability, to protect the future of our fragile planet. Through Amrita University (www.amrita.edu), our researchers are innovating new means of delivery of goods, knowledge, information, energy and healthcare.
