About Our Auction

“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.”
Psalm 8: 3-4

About First English Lutheran Women of the ELCA

The Women of the ELCA at First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater, Wisconsin, meet regularly for service, study, advocacy, and fellowship. WELCA embraces all kinds of ministry that support the mission of mobilizing women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.

In this year of the solar eclipse, we concentrated on verses, Bible stories, and activities with a celestial theme. In August, we made a visit to the Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.

"He said to Abram, 'Look up at the sky. Count the stars. They are too many for you to count!' Then God said, 'That is how many descendants you will have.'"

The picture shown on this website was painted by Carol Haas. It is based on an illustration by Carol Racklin-Siegel from a children’s book, "Lech Lecha--the Journey of Abraham and Sarah." We held a painting party where we all made our renditions of this starry scene from Genesis 15:5.
