Oktoberfest

Join our community of church friends in one of the most fun events of the First Unitarian Universalist calendar, the Annual Auction and Fundraiser!

This year's auction theme is "Oktoberfest" where we will celebrate the changing seasons while financially supporting First UU church. Fellow congregants and local Houston businesses have donated many exciting items: tickets, hosted dinner parties, vacation homes, art and crafts, books and poetry, personal walking and biking tours, and many more. And all proceeds from the auction support the operation of our church.

The silent online auction runs from Saturday, November 2nd at 7PM to Saturday, November 9th at Noon. Many of online auction items will transition into the live event and party on Saturday evening, November 9th. And the highlight of the live event on November 9th will be the live auction of special items in the church sanctuary.

The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston has been a beacon of liberal religion since 1914 in the most populous city in the southern United States.

We are a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Our congregation is affiliated with other Unitarian Universalist (UU) churches around Greater Houston and the world. As people focused on creating what Dr. King called ‘the beloved community,’ we offer our skills, talents and experience to build a more loving, just and peaceful world today.

While aligned in our desire to make a difference for the good, we are diverse in faith, ethnicity, history and spirituality, as well as gender identity and sexual orientation. We encourage members to nurture their spiritual lives with intentionality and pursue the beliefs that most resonate with each of them; we encourage members to think for themselves and ask the difficult questions; we know we need not think alike to love alike

Saturday, November 9th from 6-9 PM at First UU Church

The evening will include an Oktoberfest theme of food and drink while you can peruse the auction items which have been carried forward from the online silent auction. We will have fun and merriment before moving to the sanctuary around 8PM for the live auction event. Each year our auctioneer, Earl Dredge, puts on a lively show while we conduct live bidding on 8 or 10 special items. It's not an evening to miss!
