About Democratic Women of the Prescott Area (DWPA)
The Democratic Women of the Prescott Area's mission is to engage, unite, and empower women to promote the principles of the Democratic Party and to attain public office and leadership positions in Arizona. Events and fundraisers sponsored by DWPA provide college financial aid support via scholarships to young Democrats.
DWPA luncheons are held the 4th Wednesday of each month, where we gather to engage, learn and unite to take action to save our democracy and get out the vote. More information can be found on our website: https://dwpaaz.org
THANK YOU to our Sponsors who are supporting our scholarships and honoring these Women of the Supreme Court.
Sandra Day O'Connor, an Arizonan and the first woman on the Supreme Court, who said: “As women achieve power, the barriers will fall. As society sees what women can do, as women see what women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and we’ll all be better off for it.”
RBG, the infamous Ruth Bader Ginsburg. A strident supporter of women's rights, reminded us: “Fight for the things you care about. But do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”
The the three current Supremes who are defending Democracy:
“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life.” – Sonia Sotomayor
“The Supreme Court, of course, has the responsibility of ensuring our government never oversteps its proper bounds or violates the rights of individuals. But the Court must also recognize the limits on itself and respect the choices made by the American people.” – Elena Kagan
"So, as I take on this new role, I strongly believe that this is a moment in which all Americans can take great pride. We have come a long way toward perfecting our union. In my family, it took just one generation to go from segregation to the Supreme Court of the United States." – Ketanji Brown Jackson
