Protect the Ocean For Giving Tuesday

The Healthy Ocean Coalition (HOC) is a network of ocean lovers committed to a future with a healthy and resilient ocean. A healthy ocean is important for humans to thrive, with the ocean producing much of the oxygen we breathe, food we eat, along with jobs, recreation, and connection. But the ocean is stressed - from habitat destruction, overfishing, and absorbing the gas and heat we’ve emitted into the atmosphere. The ocean helps us, but now it needs our help.

We believe everyone can be an advocate for a healthy ocean. Our members, ranging from young adults to grandparents, work together to advance ocean conservation centering the ocean and people by engaging their communities in outreach, education, and advocacy. We amplify the work and voices of our community members loud enough for those in power to hear and, together, we advocate for effective, immediate, and systematic change.

This year for Giving Tuesday, we need to raise $50,000 to continue the Healthy Ocean Advocacy Academy, our flagship program that educates and equips individuals to become effective champions for ocean conservation and justice. Join us in working toward a healthy ocean by bidding on an item or donating directly to our campaign.

The Healthy Ocean Coalition was founded in 2009 to inspire a tidal wave of support for a comprehensive and just federal ocean conservation and policy landscape. Along the way we have grown and exceeded expectations as a national network. Now we set sail (once more) towards the horizon, to the next fifteen years, and beyond.

Our mission is to build a network of ocean lovers who work together to advance ocean conservation that centers the ocean and people to achieve a healthy, resilient ocean that can support our planet.
