About Our Auction

The Canadian SADS Foundation is excited to host our first online auction — Hearts Across Canada. Let’s come together as Canadians to support Canadians affected by inherited heart rhythm abnormalities.

Your participation in our auction allows our Foundation to continue to support Canadian patients and families and promote awareness for these cardiac disorders across the country.

Every bid, every donation, and every time you share this event helps us get one step closer to our goal.

About The Canadian SADS Foundation

What is the Canadian SADS Foundation?

Established in 1995, The Canadian Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes (SADS) Foundation (aka The Canadian SADS Foundation), a registered Canadian charity, is the only patient advocacy group in Canada dedicated to supporting patients and families affected by inherited cardiac rhythm disorders and/or cardiac structural disease that can lead to, when untreated, sudden cardiac death. Frequently referred to as SADS conditions, these cardiac disorders affect the heart's rhythm and can sometimes cause sudden cardiac death (SCD). A correct and early diagnosis and appropriate treatment for an inherited cardiac rhythm disorder will often result in affected people being able to lead productive lives with normal life spans.

The Canadian SADS Foundation is also committed to raising awareness about “The Warning Signs” for these potentially devastating disorders. Ongoing awareness is essential to prevent the deaths of an estimated 700 Canadian children and young people who die from a SADS condition each year. Creating and sustaining awareness of SCD among medical professionals is also an integral part of the Foundation’s work.

Recognition of “The Warning Signs” and early medical intervention are the keys to preventing sudden cardiac death in children and young adults.
SADS Warning Signs:
- Fainting (syncope) or seizure during physical activity and/or fainting (syncope) or seizure resulting from emotional excitement, emotional distress, or startle.
- Consistent or unusual chest pain and/or shortness of breath during exercise.
- Family history of unexpected sudden death during physical activity or during a seizure, or any other unexplained sudden death of an otherwise healthy young person.
