About Our Auction
LPAPA's 18th Annual "Less is More" is a juried art show featuring small works created by LPAPA Signature and Artist Members. This online Preview Auction includes the paintings juried into the LPAPA Gallery show as award Finalists, as well as the Top-Scoring Semi-Finalists included in the Art Catalog online gallery showcase.
In addition, we are pleased to include the special Showcase Gallery Exhibition by LPAPA Signature Artist in Residence Aimee Erickson in this Preview Auction.
The special auction pricing starts at 80% of the gallery price with minimum $10 bid increments. The pre-opening auction provides LPAPA art collectors the opportunity to add an original LPAPA artist painting to their collection at a potential 20% savings! LPAPA underwrites the auction pricing so the Artists receive their full commission. We've included the "buy-now" feature if you wish to immediately secure your purchase with increased support for LPAPA!
LPAPA Gallery shows are made possible through the support of LPAPA members, supporters, donors and collectors. Proceeds from the sale of artwork benefit the artists and help to sustain nonprofit LPAPA's year-round art and education programs. Regardless of the final auction sale price, the Artist receives his or her full commission based on the full gallery price.
Auction dates are July 5 - July 11, 2024, with online auction bidding or buy-now commencing Friday, July 5th at 10:00 am PDT, and ending Thursday, July 11th at 8:00 pm PDT.
Plan to join us for the LPAPA Gallery for the (holiday modified) First Thursdays Art Walk Reception & Awards Presentation on the second Thursday, July 11th, 6 pm to 9 pm, with Aimee Erickson joining us virtually and the Less is More awards to be announced at 7 pm PDT. The awards presentation will also be broadcast live through LPAPA's Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/LagunaPleinAir).
The Less is More Juried Gallery Show and Aimee Erickson's Gallery Showcase and Online exhibitions and sales continue through Monday, July 29th, 2024.
The LPAPA Gallery is located on Gallery Row in Laguna Beach at 414 N. Coast Highway, between Jasmine and Myrtle Streets. Gallery hours are Thursday through Monday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, and by appointment. Gallery hours are extended to 9pm the first Thursday of each month.

About Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA)
The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art organization that was originally founded in Laguna Beach in 1996 by five artists -- Ken Auster, Jacobus Baas, Cynthia Britain, Saim Caglayan, and John Cosby -- with a mission to preserve the history of the plein air movement of 19th century California, to support the tradition as it exists today, and to foster a network among plein air painters nationwide.
LPAPA is considered the stewards of Laguna’s plein air painting legacy, which helped establish our town as an artists’ colony more than a century ago. Early plein air artists -- Edgar Payne, Frank Cuprien, Anna Hills, William Wendt, and other now famous artists -- founded the original Laguna Beach Art Association and opened the first art gallery in 1918. The permanent collection they started later established the town’s museum. LPAPA is committed to continuing the outdoor painting tradition and preserving the Laguna Plein Air Painting legacy.
LPAPA's mission includes career opportunities and education programs to help enhance the livelihood of our artist members and community, as well as educate and inspire the next generation of artists to continue the legacy.
