About Arts Council of Moore County

Founded in 1973, the Arts Council of Moore County is a charitable, nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire and strengthen our community though the arts. We contribute significantly to the region’s quality of life by hosting world-class visual and performance artists with offerings reflective of our rich diversity, facilitating access to the arts for all people.

The Arts Council is the center of a thriving creative district, with arts and cultural industries generating $13.2 million in local economic activity annually (2015 Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 study by Americans for the Arts). We serve this economy in various ways, including showcasing hundreds of artists, and supporting arts organizations with grants, ticket sales, and promotions. We are also the NC Arts Council’s Designated County Partner for administering the Grassroots Grants and the Artist Support Grant programs.

Thousands of children have been profoundly impacted as a result of our Youth Programs. We serve over 15,000 children each year in every school – public, private, charter, and home schools. We’ve also awarded over $71,000 to date in arts scholarships to talented kids. These programs rely completely on grants and community support.

Your support of the Arts Council is the ultimate expression of faith in our goal of sustaining our community as a place resilient with the arts at its core.
