About Our Auction
This auction is to benefit The National Association of Atomic Veterans. In memory of SGT. C.J. Jacome.
Sgt. Clarence "John" Jácome served in the United States Marine Corps Air Wing from 1951-1954.
Sgt. Jácome was deployed to Korea on board the USNS Brewster, where he was part of the 1st Marine Air Wing HEDRON-1
After his tour in Korea, John was selected to participate in Operation Castle Bravo as part of Joint Task Force Seven. He witnessed the detonation from the USS Bairoko, and was part of the initial post-shot radiological survey team.
In spite of Mr. Jácome's close proximity to the blast and post-blast ground operations, he suffered no ill effects from the radiation exposure. John went on to lead a long life of service as a firefighter, local volunteer, and artist.
He passed peacefully at 88 years old in January of 2023, surrounded by his family.
Though he is severely missed by everyone who knew him, his legacy lives on.
Mr. Jácome was very proud of his military service and his membership in the National Association of Atomic Veterans. The To The Edge charity organization is honoring C. John Jácome by raising funds and awareness for the NAAV.
The proceeds of this auction will go directly to the NAAV with the hopes that the monies will assist with NAAV's mission as well as offer financial relief for members unable to pay their dues to remain active in such an elite organization.
Thank you to our donors and supporters, as well as the National Association of Atomic Veterans for all of your efforts and support.
