Quilts for Empowerment's (QFE's) 2021 virtual auction supports our major initiative over the past year - raising funds to complete the construction of our Girls Home Project / community resource center in Luanda, Kenya.

The Center will allow us to expand our programs addressing gender-based violence in rural Kenya, specifically housing and educating girls who have been assaulted and providing support and business training for women who have experienced fistula.

The women and girls in our programs thank you for bidding on these items and for your support of QFE throughout the year.

Quilts for Empowerment (QFE) empowers women and girls in Kenya, especially fistula survivors and young girls who have been assaulted through building economic independence, cultivating self-worth, and providing educational opportunities.

Our evidence-based practices for supporting fistula survivors include:
a) a monthly income from quilting to pay for their daily needs
b) a non-refundable cash transfer to invest in income-generating activities
c) health insurance for the entire household
d) financial training
e) on-going mentoring and
d) inclusion in an income-generating support group.

Our program for young survivors of sexual assault provides a safe home, education, health care, and professional trauma-informed counseling. Each girl is sponsored by a US supporter who pays for their school fees and daily upkeep.
