Bidding for Birds
The Raptor Trust auction is back again!
Spring and summer are the busiest times of year at The Raptor Trust, and we’re already in the midst of the adorable invasion of tiny Robins, Great Horned Owl fluffballs, and baby Blue Jays with an attitude, among hundreds of other youngsters. This auction helps raise the funds needed to provide bird seed, suet, mealworms, fish, fruit, and other nutritious foods for the many hungry little mouths that arrive in the summer.
The average cost of one bird’s total rehabilitation care in 2022 was $251, and, because we admit an average of 5,000-6,000 birds per year, those costs quickly add up.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 during our online silent auction. All proceeds from the event go directly to TRT operating costs.
AUCTION ENDS SUNDAY, May 21 at 6:00pm!
About The Raptor Trust
The Raptor Trust mission is to:
• Provide free care and assistance to injured, sick, or orphaned wild birds.
• Educate people about wild birds, especially birds of prey.
• Set a humane example for others.
We believe that all living things are important, and if, because of humans and human activities, injuries and injustices befall wild creatures, then humans have the responsibility to help heal the injuries and attempt to correct the injustices.
The Raptor Trust was established in 1983, after founders Len and Diane Soucy began caring for injured wild birds in their backyard-- in a time when there was no legal protection and almost no facilities for injured and orphaned predatory birds.
Today, The Raptor Trust is one of the premier wild bird rehabilitation centers in the United States. Located in Millington, New Jersey, the Trust includes a hospital with state-of-the-art medical facilities, quality exterior housing for several hundred birds, and an education building. A stalwart advocate for wild birds for thirty-six years, it is now recognized as a national leader in the fields of raptor conservation and avian rehabilitation. Since 1983, we’ve released over 50,000 wild birds back into our community!
