About Our Auction

This auction's proceeds benefit the programs of the Shelby County Arts Council. Arts programs include arts programs for at-risk teens, senior citizens and for the special needs community. In addition, SCAC teaches art and music lessons of all kinds, scholarship (free) and otherwise. The venue includes a black box theater (aka Song Theater), a world class art gallery and a metal arts foundry. All of which is accessible to the public via classes, workshops and programs.

About Shelby County Arts Council

The mission of the Shelby County Arts Council is to support, nurture and promote the arts and cultural opportunities in Central Alabama.
Energized by the belief that the arts have the power to inspire individuals and rouse communities, the Shelby County Arts Council has promoted visual and performing arts throughout the county since 2005. The former Columbiana Fine Arts Center was formed in 2004 when Terri Sullivan and a small group of interested citizens responded to the lack of arts programming within Shelby County. They expanded their vision and scope as the Academy of Fine Arts of Shelby County in 2005 and added more classes. As its programs and outreach grew, the name was changed in 2007 to the Shelby County Arts Council to more fully denote its county-wide role of promoting arts programs and assisting artists. The SCAC is fully incorporated as a functioning 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. SCAC Outreach programs include “Writing Our Stories”, a creative writing program for at-risk students and the Juvenile Detention Center Arts program.
Thanks to a collaboration between the City of Columbiana, Shelby County and SCAC, the Arts Council is located in a beautiful; 30,000 square foot arts and cultural center in Columbiana, AL. We believe the infusion of arts and cultural opportunities into a community adds value to that community at conceivably every level-even economic.
