SPG4 Cure Fundraiser Auction Site

In December, our 7-year-old son was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Type 4 (SPG4). This disease is progressive and there is currently no cure or treatment to stop the progression. This diagnosis means that patients slowly become paralyzed over time, and there is nothing to help them or to stop this from happening. The cure to SPG4, a gene therapy, is currently being researched and can be developed relatively quickly if it can be funded. The cost to bring this cure to human clinical trials is $3 million USD. My husband and I are doing everything we can to raise money for the cure before our son becomes paralyzed. This cure is giving us hope, and hope to all other families affected by SPG4. However, rare disease research rarely progresses to human clinical trials due to the small population affected and the amount of funding required. This gene therapy will cost $3 million USD.
