About Our Auction
St. James has held an annual Fair since the late 1920s. All proceeds from the Fair are used to support groups and individuals in the Woodstock area and beyond which serve people who are hungry or in need of other material assistance. This auction is intended to replace some of the Fair funds which we were not able to raise due to the pandemic. It will allow St. James to continue to assist community partners which have come to rely on us for support.
About St. James Episcopal Church
St. James was organized as a parish church in 1825, when a group of Woodstock residents came together for the express purpose of forming a Protestant Episcopal Society under the authority of what was then known as the Eastern Diocese, to secure the services of a priest. The first service in the old church building, a wooden structure which occupied the current site, was held on Christmas Day, 1827.
Today, St. James remains as a vibrant parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont. It is part of The Episcopal Church, which has a presence in the U.S., Central America, and the Caribbean, and the Anglican Communion, which spans some 40 Provinces throughout the world.
The parish community strives to live out the commandment to love God and love our neighbors. The outreach made possible by our annual summer fair, is but one of the ways in which we engage in that work.
