About Our Auction
Tim and Cindy Katona and Katona Reining Horses have been a pillar in the National Reining Horse Association for nearly 50 years. Their dedication to the reining community has been unparalleled including being instrumental in the start of the NRHA Youth Program. Tim hosted the very first youth event in conjunction with Bob Evans in Columbus, Ohio which established the first approved youth classes recognized by the NRHA. Tim and his family were the founders of the Michigan Reining Horse Association and held the first shows for the association at their farm. The very first NRHA Judges school with the new system was held at their farm as well. Since then his involvement in the NRHA has been dominant in coaching, training and breeding. In 2017 he was awarded the NRHA Dale Wilkinson Lifetime Achievement Award for his unending support of the organization and his continued dedication to serving the youth. Aside from his accomplishments as an NRHA Professional, Tim has been a constant to his fellow horseman and their families. There isn’t a run he has missed of his friends, wives, and their kids and there isn’t a cheer louder than his! His dedication to his customers starts early in the mornings and his enthusiasm for them to have success is truly unmatched. Tim pours himself into every person he surrounds himself with. We write this to ask our community to help in returning the love and support. Tim has been bravely battling small cell metastatic lung cancer and the medical bills are beginning to pile up and the need for 24-hour care at their home is immediate. We ask that you continue to keep both Tim and Cindy in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to be strong together during this time.
About Michigan Reining Horse Association
Reining Michigan, Inc., is an affiliate of the National Reining Horse Association and was founded for the purpose of promoting the reining horse in the state of Michigan. It is our aim to advance the sport to a well-organized and an equally well-conducted event that everyone can enjoy. It is also our purpose to insure every contestant desiring to rein, a fair and equal chance. Therefore, a uniform set of bylaws, rules, and regulations governing a reining event was considered necessary.
