About Our Auction
TREK is an enriched alternative program open to all Grade 10 students in the Vancouver School District. The program admits 112 students each year, and is based at Prince of Wales Secondary School. In addition to meeting the requirements for completion of Grade 10, the program consists of three interwoven components: outdoor adventure & challenge, education for sustainability, and character development.
The Vancouver School Board provides funds for teaching staff and instructional facilities. The TREK program must raise funds to pay for equipment and field trip expenses.
Parents are organizing a fundraiser to be held on Thursday, April 27th.
About TREK Outdoor Program
The goals of the TREK Program meet the Curricular and Core Competencies outlined in the revised BC Curriculum. We are a fully integrated, place-based program that has the flexibility to create an enriched learning environment.
In addition to meeting all of the Curricular requirements of Grade 10, TREK:
- Introduces each student to a variety of outdoor activities;
- Provides instruction in the safe and proper means of participating in these activities;
- Helps students develop a greater understanding of the natural world;
- Provides positive personal growth experiences for students.
