About Our Auction
Wild About Blue is Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park’s largest fundraiser of the year. The proceeds from this event are used primarily to support our environmental education efforts and are for general operating support. Funds are used for our internships, our public programs like our annual Wildlife Festival and for all of our free year-round programming. Some funds are also used for conservation and recreation projects that we do in support of the land owners that we partner with.
About Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park
The Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park is a non-profit organization that partners with the Town of Wilton, Saratoga County, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, and The Nature Conservancy to conserve ecological systems and natural settings while providing opportunities for environmental education and outdoor recreation.
Providing environmental educational programming and outdoor recreational opportunities are at the heart of the organization. We provide a full range of environmental education programs for the public throughout the year and work with local schools, scout groups, summer camps, community centers, and others to present programs at the Preserve & Park and off-site.
The Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park is part of the geologically significant Saratoga Sandplains. This area of ancient sand dunes, small but important wetlands and diverse ecological communities is home to the federally endangered Karner blue butterfly, the threatened frosted elfin, and the hognose snake, a species of special concern. While the Karner blue butterfly was the catalyst behind the effort to conserve this increasingly rare landscape in 1996, within just a few years of the establishment of the Preserve & Park, other extremely rare species, the eastern spadefoot toad and the Blanding’s turtle were discovered in the Saratoga Sandplains. Today, over 2,400 acres protect significant habitats and more than 25 miles of trails provide a wonderfully fun, healthy, and educational resource for the community.
