Housing for Hope Christmas Auction

Proceeds from the sale of these items will support the Antigonish Affordable Society’s (AAHS) work of creating comfortable, safe homes for people who live on low incomes. Antigonish, like many communities across Nova Scotia, and Canada, is in dire need of affordable housing.

The AAHS has successfully built 28 units of high quality affordable housing across multiple complexes, which include community rooms, gardens, and solar panels. We have a full-time Community Navigator on site to support residents in building a healthy community and in accessing resources and services they need to live well. The society is planning an expansion, scheduled to open in 2025, which will have 17 units. This will include barrier free units and the project will be net zero through the use of solar power and other efficiencies.

We want to continue to do more, and all funds raised support the AAHS’s vision of having sufficient environmentally, socially and financially sustainable, community-supported affordable housing available to residents of Antigonish Town and County who are living on low incomes.

The Antigonish Affordable Housing Society (AAHS) aims to break the cycle of poverty vulnerable people find themselves in, and to improve the quality of their lives by providing community-supported, high quality affordable and energy-efficient housing, along with provision of supports to tenants to navigate services and facilitate community building among tenants.
