A Bid for the Future: An Auction to Benefit CTTC
The pandemic has halted all tourism in Peru since March 15 and closed the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco (CTTC), and the village weaving centers it supports. Thanks to our donors’ past generosity, Andean Textiles Arts (ATA) was able to provide emergency funds immediately to help weavers who were suddenly left without income from their work. We also raised funds to keep CTTC employees working and weavers weaving at home so textile products can be ready for sale when tourism returns.
But funds are still needed to sustain the center’s work with weavers through the months ahead and beyond. Your participation in our fundraising auction, A Bid for the Future, will provide that additional assistance. So start the bidding, and treat yourself to some exceptional Andean textiles!
About the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco:
CTTC is a non-profit organization established in 1996 by Andean weavers and their supporters. The mission of the center is to aid in the survival of Cusqueñan textile traditions and to provide support to the indigenous people who create them. CTTC works with ten weaving communities (about 650 weavers and their families) in the Cusco region of Peru on a fair-trade basis to help rescue and revive traditions, and promote the weavers and their work.
About Andean Textile Arts
Andean Textile Arts is an organization dedicated to supporting the people and communities of the Andes in their efforts to preserve and revitalize their textile traditions. ATA formed as a U.S. 501(c)3 non-profit foundation in 2000.
