About Our Auction

Bidding at First 2021 will support the ministries of First United Church, Waterloo. In past years we have had fundraisers throughout the year inviting the community to join us in raising funds for our ongoing programs. COVID-19 has meant all plans for in-person events since mid-March 2020 were cancelled. So our church members have gathered many items for this auction to help people make purchases in a safer, more isolated way. Our online auction in 2020 was successful. We look forward to a successful auction this year too.

About First United Church, Waterloo

Located in uptown Waterloo, close to public transit and community parking, First United is the site of many events organized by the church, events and meetings of many community groups, and home to ongoing community programs. Our building is home for: English at First, a federally funded LINC (Language Instruction for New Canadians) program; the office of MT Space (Multicultural Theatre Space); and the pickup location for Bailey’s Local Foods, an online farmers’ market weekly May – Oct. and monthly Nov.-April. Other community groups meet in the church building as well.
Our Sunday worship service is livestreamed as well as in-person.
First United is known for outreach: Fridays at First providing a meal and social time for homeless folk Fridays during winter months; hats, mitts, scarves and other clothing items hung on the fence for needy persons to pick up; vegetable gardens on the edge of the church parking lot with vegetables free for the taking; two little outside libraries with books for adults and children; as well as other projects during the year including food drives.
First United is also known for music. Our free weekly Tuesday Noonhour Concerts by local musicians have run for over forty years. Our facility is also frequently used for music programs by the church choirs, Wilfrid Laurier University musicians, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and other local music groups.
