Bid to Give 2024

Bid to Give is an annual fundraiser for Bereaved Families of Ontario - Midwestern Region, created to raise critical funds for our grief support programs, education and outreach initiatives and community events.

We do not receive any government funding and rely on fundraisers like Bid to Give to ensure we can continue providing grief support free of charge.

At BFO-MR, our mission is to provide an empathetic community of peer support and education for individuals and families who are grieving.

We achieve our mission by providing grief support programs in the community, educating the public about grief, and creating opportunities to honour loved ones through our memorial events.  

We offer groups for parents grieving the death of an infant or child, as well as a mixed-loss groups for adults grieving a death, and one specifically for individuals grieving a death by substance use. Volunteers who are themselves bereaved facilitate these programs.

Our Healing Little Hearts programs for children 4-12 are led by professionals and feature a concurrent group for parents/caregivers. Last year, we launched a program for teens called Good Grief.

Through grief literacy initiatives (such as workshops, conferences and education campaigns) we hope to normalize grief, give people the knowledge and tools to support themselves and others, reduce stigma and ideally create communities that are more compassionate.
