Broken Wide Open tells the true story of Seattle local, Shana Pennington-Baird, surviving emergency heart surgery while traveling alone through Ireland in August of 2019.

Shana and her team of talented theatre creators and musicians have created a one-hour, one-woman show full of beautiful Irish Celtic music, showtunes, the BeeGees, and more

This summer, the team is taking the story back to where it all started: Dingle and Cork, Ireland

To thank the Irish people who saved Shana’s life

And raise awareness of the signs of heart emergencies along the way (Awareness saves lives)

This organization is raising funds for Broken Wide Open, a theatrical show telling the story of Shana Pennington-Baird who was traveling alone through Ireland when she suffered a sudden and life-threatening heart incident. It’s a miracle she survived. This story features the Irish people who saved Shana, the AirBnB hosts who became family and how she finally got home.

Shana and a handful of other Seattle theatre professionals have created a beautiful show all about her experience. The first half is harrowing and hysterical tale of the what happened to Shana, told by Shana with music by Cathie Ryan, Sondheim and the BeeGees. The second half is a wild Irish musical concert!
