About Our Auction
We normally hold our Dream Auction as a live and silent, in person evening of fun, food and good natured out-bidding. This is an annual fundraiser to help us support our own programs, support community groups and reach out to those in need in our community.
We are excited to say that we will be both in person and online this year! What you see online is a small subset of the many wonderful items including gift baskets, gift cards, baked goods and services which we will auction at our live event beginning at 7:00 p.m. this evening (Saturday May 6) at our church located at 73 Queen St E in the Hespeler area of Cambridge. Hope to see you then!
Some of the hand knit baby clothes have been lovingly placed in this auction in memory of Lorraine Paddock, by her family. Lorraine fostered more than 106 babies. For her full story please go to: https://www.therecord.com/entertainment/2019/01/27/lifetimes-foster-mom-helped-give-a-healthy-start-to-106-babies-over-four-decades-of-caring.html. Her knit items will be marked with her name.
About St. Andrew's Hespeler Presbyterian Church
St. Andrew’s Hespeler Presbyterian Church lives out its faith in a historic building in the heart of Hespeler Village. The congregation’s home is a beautiful facility well suited to worship, learning and growing in grace. For many decades, the congregation has worked hard to make its facilities very useful to share the warmth of God’s love with people of our community in practical ways. As we emerge from COVID-19, this outreach includes:
*Hope Clothing which offers good clothing free of charge. We are happy to be back to in person regular shopping. We serve approximately 50 - 60 families per month.
*The Cambridge Food Bank (CFB) which serves 20 - 30 families per month. The CFB saw a 54% increase in people accessing the food bank in February 2023 over February 2022.
*The Thursday Night Supper & Social which has changed to Lunch on Queen to better serve people in need of nourishment and friendship. As of now, lunch is served on the 2nd Thursday of each month.
*Hosting of an Outreach Worker from the House of Friendship on Thursday afternoons. This outreach worker assists families.
*A-A, Al-Anon & Al-ateen groups which have resumed meeting in person.
*Community groups that provide development and mutual support.
*Church groups that promote love, service, mission and growth.
*And much more!
In 2023, St. Andrew’s Hespeler turns 168 years old! As part of our anniversary celebrations this year we are hosting both an on-line auction from May 1 – 6, 2023 and an in-person auction on Saturday May 6, 2023. All proceeds from this event will be for the benefit of our General Operating Fund which provides the infrastructure for the above identified programs.
