About Our Auction

Strengthening Christian leaders to serve urban communities is the heart of Emmanuel Gospel Center's mission. During the past few months, Dorchester, Mattapan, and other communities of color have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, and urban Christian leaders continue to be at the center of responding. The recent murder of George Floyd and other Black brothers and sisters, and the protests following their deaths, have brought into sharp focus the need for racial justice and community action. This year, EGC’s silent auction is supporting three ministry partners doing this important work:

• Agencia ALPHA (a social ministry of Congregacion Leon de Juda) was founded in 2002 by two immigrant women from Guatemala. Its mission is to “integrate immigrants into the social, political, and economic fabric of society and improve our quality of life in the United States." ALPHA focuses on three areas: legalization and citizenship services, community organizing, and leadership development. Since the pandemic struck, ALPHA has been very involved in helping to meet the basic needs of Latino immigrants (especially undocumented families which were not eligible for stimulus funds) and making follow-up wellness calls to the families.

• The Black Ministerial Alliance of Greater Boston was founded during the 1960s civil rights movement with a mission to provide spiritual nurture to clergy, advocacy and program services for the larger Black community. Starting as an interdenominational group of 20 clergy, the BMA has grown to become an alliance of churches, faith-based ministries and community-based organizations working together to engage communities in Greater Boston. The BMA’s Bridge of Hope Fund supports Black churches and their social ministries to underserved communities.

• The Massachusetts Council of Churches' website says, "The Massachusetts Council of Churches and its member congregations and denominations believe in One Church. We believe all parts of the body of Christ are necessary. And, at this terrible moment when so many people are suffering because of COVID-19, some parts of the body of Christ are suffering more than others." The One Church Fund provides “financial, practical and relational support to churches doing essential ministry in communities which have borne the brunt of systemic inequities since long before the COVID-19.” The Fund prioritizes immigrant, Black, poor, unhoused, and unaffiliated churches.

Bid as many times as you like before 8:00 PM on June 20!
