Rolsky Animal Legacy Jewelry Auction

You have a special opportunity to obtain some lovely jewelry and support the work of Compassionate Action for Animals (CAA). These pieces are from the estate of Joan Rolsky.

My late wife Joan and I (jared Rolsky) are the parents of one of Compassionate Action for Animals’ (CAA’s) co-founders, David Rolsky.

We supported David's work for farmed animals from the beginning with generous financial gifts and cooking for the annual banquet.

I still cook for the banquet and continue to volunteer with CAA. You may know me as one of the Twin Cities Veg Fest volunteer coordinators.

Now that Joan is dead, I want to see her jewelry go to others who are carrying forward the legacy of making change for animals.

For that reason, I am donating the jewelry she wore to benefit CAA’s work.

Those who place winning bids will carry forward our family's changemaking legacy with a piece of Joan's jewelry.

I will deliver your item to you personally if you live inside the 494/696 ring. There are also opportunities to pick items up from me personally at the Compassionate Action for Animals office. You can also choose to have your items shipped to you.

These items are priced at about 40% of their actual value. I ask that wholesalers not participate: I want the people who buy to be those who care about making the lives of farmed animals better.

Starting Price for Gold Items

Most of the 14 and 18K gold items are starting priced near the live spot price of gold as of 10/24/24 (14K is $46/gram and 18K is $63/gram).  Live spot price is what most of us would call "wholesale".  Actual jewelry is usually priced at double to triple (or more) of the live spot price of gold.  In this auction it is starting priced this way to make these gold items unprofitable for wholesalers to buy and resell.

To this end, CAA staff and I may block bids of people we don’t know.  If you think we have blocked your bid in error please reach out to donations@exploreveg.org

I have extended this opportunity to CAA supporters because I appreciate all you do for animals.

Please bid generously to benefit Compassionate Action for Animals critical work.

About Compassionate Action for Animals

Compassionate Action for Animals (CAA) encourages people to embrace their empathy for farmed animals and move toward a plant-based diet. We envision a world where all animals, human and non-human, can thrive.

Gifts from people like you increase awareness of the lives of farmed animals, build community through plant-based eating, nurture advocates in the Twin Cities region, and support individuals and institutions as they transition to plant-based eating.

Our small staff works with hundreds of volunteers, many in leadership positions, to maximize our effectiveness. Together, with help from people like you, we’ve spared the lives of over 1 million farmed animals since 1998.
