Artcite Inc. is Windsor, Ontario’s only non-profit, artist-run centre, dedicated to cultivating contemporary art and community outreach in Windsor-Essex since 1982. Our free and accessible programming features diverse, experimental exhibitions, workshops, and public events that highlight emerging and underrepresented voices. By embracing a wide range of Canadian artistic practices, we reflect and contribute to the social and cultural richness of our region while broadening traditional notions of contemporary art.
We actively support artists at all career stages, with a focus on emerging and underrepresented voices, by providing platforms for their work and paying professional artist fees at nationally established rates. Beyond exhibitions, we host guest artist lectures, workshops, residencies, public art projects, and performances, creating inclusive forums for cultural exchange, critical dialogue, and professional development.
In November 2024, Artcite will relocate from its downtown space, where it has been since 1992, to a new, fully accessible location in Ford City. This move is a significant step forward, enabling us to provide year-round programming and better serve our community. Proceeds from this auction will directly fund renovations to the new space, including the construction of gallery walls, installation of track lighting, flooring upgrades, accessible washrooms, archive storage, and more.
The new facility will feature a main gallery for major exhibitions, a community gallery for local programming, an archive reference library, a reception area, a community resource room, and fully wheelchair-accessible spaces. These upgrades will allow us to continue offering innovative programs and exhibitions that inspire and engage our community.
Last Look—the final exhibition in our downtown location—features works by artists who have recently exhibited with us, participated in our residency program, or contributed to our history as staff, board members, supporters, or volunteers. The exhibition is on view at 109 University Ave West in downtown Windsor, open daily from 2–8pm between November 20 and 29, 2024. Bidding begins at 2pm on November 20 and ends at 10pm on November 29. Winning bidders attending the closing reception on November 29 from 7–11pm can pay for their artwork in the gallery and take it home after 10pm that evening.
By bidding in this auction, you’re directly supporting vital improvements at Artcite's new location and helping us continue providing a vibrant, creative space for Windsor-Essex. Your generosity will ensure Artcite’s ongoing impact as we expand the visibility of contemporary arts in the region. Thank you for being part of this exciting journey!

About Artcite Inc.
Artcite Inc. is a non-profit, artist-run centre for the contemporary arts, dedicated exclusively to expanding the visibility of contemporary arts in the Windsor-Essex region and advancing the professional presentation, promotion, and animation of contemporary art forms.
Established in 1982, we are a registered charitable organization directed by our members, a volunteer board, and a small staff, the majority of whom are practicing artists. We support local, regional, national, and international artists who work in various media and disciplines, and who are at varying stages of their careers, with particular support for emerging, new generation and culturally under-represented artists.
In our efforts to create progressive, inclusive, and engaging forums for critical dialogue, professional development, cultural exchange, and outreach between the contemporary artists and communities we serve, we also presents guest artist lectures; workshops and residencies; site-specific installations and public art projects; social advocacy actions; film and video screenings; multi-disciplinary performance events; and other special projects.
