Nye Beach Banner Auction 2023
2023 is the 15th year of the Nye Beach Banner Art Project, a fund-raiser to support community arts and youth art programs such as the Oregon Coast Art Bus: a beautiful mobile arts classroom bringing arts education, engaging opportunities, and creative experiences to coastal communities; especially those with limited access to art experiences or transportation. https://coastarts.org/visual-arts-center/art-bus/
Our banner artists include first-time makers and seasoned artists. This is the fourth year of our banner exchange with our sister city of Mombetsu, Japan. All of the artists stepped up to the challenge, taking the time to create and donate these remarkable, provocative, delightful artworks. We can’t thank them enough for these efforts that help to strengthen our sense of community, both locally and globally. Many of this year’s banners celebrates the 50th anniversary of the US Endangered Species Act.
We are thankful for the patrons of the Nye Beach Banner Project, who are as excited as we are to be supporting Youth Arts in our community through the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA), for another year.
One person who is instrumental in this annual event is not here to celebrate with us. Veronica Lundell, the founder and driving force of the Nye Beach Banner Project, is recovering from a fall she suffered in October. Her presence is terribly missed and we wish her a speedy return to action. To help Veronica on her road to recovery https://gofund.me/341be51a
To see all the banners, click on ‘All Items’. To learn more about the banner and see additional images, click on the individual banner. Each banner has 4 below the first image. You can enlarge the images by clicking while hovering over the image. ***The first two images are what the banner currently looks like (you can see the grommets used to hang it on the light poles).
The banners hung outside from June-October and show some wear/tear and extra character. The first two photos show what the banner currently looks like, the second two what it looked like before they hung outside.
Banners can be picked-up Sunday November 12th 12:30-4 and then during VAC open hours (Wednesday-Sunday 12-4pm). We will send an email at the end of the auction with pickup times. Banners that are being shipped will go out on November 15th.
