The idea for this auction came about a few days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Transfixed by the news and the horrors unfolding, I felt overwhelmed with fear, sadness, rage and compassion.
I wanted to help but was unsure how.

Who am I? You may well ask.
My name is Josephine Ryan: Antiques Dealer, Stylist, Author & Interior Decorator.
Over almost thirty years I've met many people with beautiful houses, some with two.
A number of these people have become my friends and so an idea percolated: 
I contacted all these good folk to ask if they would offer their second home for auction (some in the hospitality industry) and forsake their fees to help the Ukrainian people in their hour of need.
Being brazen is easy when it's on someone else's behalf!
Needless to say, I was inundated with positive replies.

People have opened their hearts and their homes in unprecedented ways.
Our auction has dream homes that would never normally be available to rent. Our generous donors are sharing their homes with you so together we can help the Ukrainian people.


So, dear bidders, it is your turn!

There are thirty different choices in six countries.
They are all special places, some are extraordinary properties, some never available to rent.
If you were planning a holiday or short break then please choose one of these options.
The auction platform only shows four images per property but most listings have links to further information. Follow the ink on the donors name.
If you hadn’t decided where you were going to go, then throw a coin in the air.
If you had decided not to go away this year, think again!
Never has there been a better excuse to holiday and do good at the same time.

Every single penny will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

All proceeds will be going to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). This is an umbrella group for fifteen of the UK’s leading aid charities, including Save the Children, Oxfam, British Red Cross and Action Against Hunger. Its Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal is raising funds for those fleeing their homes. 
The UK Government has promised to match donations pound for pound.

Post auction I will liaise between the winning bidders and the property owners and help where I can.

All properties are being offered for auction on a goodwill, charitable basis in support of the Ukrainian crisis. As these properties are privately owned, bidding is done on a goodwill, mutual trust relationship between both parties on a non refundable basis.

Dates for stays to be negotiated with the owners once the lot is won. The winning bid is non transferable, you will not be entering into a contract with the owners and 100% of your winning bid will be donated to the DEC.
