About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District (BBBSLD) is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to enhancing community well-being through mentoring programs. Since 1989, we have served the youth of Lacombe and District, including the areas of Alix, Bentley, Blackfalds, Clive, Eckville, and Lacombe. In 2024 our mentoring programs have positively impacted over 400 youth! Our vision is to provide programs and services that connect children in need with positive role models who can guide and support them.
Our primary focus is on three key mentoring programs:
• Community-Based 1:1 Mentoring: This program pairs youth with volunteer mentors for approximately 6-8 hours a month, engaging in shared activities that foster meaningful connections out in the community.
• In-School 1:1 Mentoring: Volunteers, including both teenagers and adults, work with students outside the classroom to support their personal growth and development.
• Group Mentoring: Our group programs, such as Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds, Kids & Kops, and Game On, emphasize holistic youth development. These programs cover essential topics like healthy friendships, mindfulness, self-care, and teamwork.
